What Striker Would You Like To See Us Buy?
For me, I'd love to see either Ollie Watkins or Ivan Toney at our club.

Both Strikers are premier league proven with Toney on 12 goals and Watkins on 10 this season.

What striker would you like to see us buy in the summer?

I hope to God he's wrong but according to Claretandhugh Moyes thinks Micky is still going to be our main striker next season so if we sign a striker they won't be any of the big names we've been hoping for! I know we've scored plenty of goals the last two years but we create a lot more chances than we score so if we'd had a sharper striker we might have got a CL place

So be it, mate.

So we'll just ignore Moyes's flawed transfer activity over the course of his career, shall we?

I comes across as blind hatred for the owners, if I'm honest.

It's not out of blind hatred for the owners. Yes I despise them but that has been born out of years of their demonstrable lies, misdirection, and incompetence.

As such I am inclined to believe their track record is more likely to be behind flawed transfer activity than a manager simply not wanting new players.

"I think is far more likely that the board failed to land Moyes' targets than Moyes simply not wanting anyone."

I don't. Especially when you have Moyes telling us that, and someone on here confirming that through contacts within the club.

I've said they're shit owners, but some people want to blame them for everything, and they won't listen to anything else. I get that.

Watkins for what Villa paid for him (£28 Million) plus extras wouldn't displease me too much but £40 million off the bat is far too much and not worth the money. He strikes me as somebody who slowly improves each season and with the right manager can surprise everyone. Not unlike Antonio actually...

Signing 50 strikers only one or two of which proved good businesses is hardly evidence of shrewd operators is it?. I thought it would have been implicit in my post that I was taking about the failure to close good deals as opposed to any old deal.

We'll probably never know of course but I think is far more likely that the board failed to land Moyes' targets than Moyes simply not wanting anyone.

It's got to the point now where I'd take Mike Newell as a back up striker.

At his current age.

Re: What Striker Would You Like To See Us Buy?
Or we go with what Moyes has told us, Fo?

I'm not doubting they're shit owners, but ever since Moyes took 100% control of transfers (his words), we've failed to sign any striker when we've so badly needed one.

Before that, the owners bought us 50 (wasn't it?) strikers. Not bad for people who have a history of failing to close deals.

Re: What Striker Would You Like To See Us Buy?
The split in opinion over who - GSB or Moyes - was responsible for January's failings still intrigues.

Knowing what we do, surely its incontrovertible that the GSB's history of failing to close deals, general shitcuntery and lack of any strategic thinking is a way more likely explanation than a manager simply refusing to add to a squad he had acknowledged was thin.

There's thorough preparation, and then there's DITHERING.

Re: What Striker Would You Like To See Us Buy?
Moyes really does like to have thorough preparation doesn't he. His thorough preparation meant he didn't buy a single player in the last window and his thorough preparation has meant he has not bought a striker in the last 2 windows. More preparation obviously required for this window as well I think. Slowly, slowly catches fuck all.

Of course there will be a list of targets, this is Moyes we’re talking about and he’s well known for his thorough preparation.

Have some faith.

Agree, if we don’t know who we want now then something is seriously fucked up, even if us fans don’t have a clue who could be available the club since January should have been sounding out players, clubs and agents of players Moyes likes and if they would move to West Ham in the summer, we should at the very least have 2 or 3 targets that are realistic and would improve us.

If we haven't already identified our targets then theres a serious problem with our scouting.

Re: What Striker Would You Like To See Us Buy?
How about Man City academy graduate Lukas Nmecha currently playing for Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga ?

Home grown which is a plus

Scored 18 in 37 apps for Anderlecht in 20-21 season, last season he scored 8 in 25 for Wolfsburg who struggled last season and ended up in 12th place, so no European football over there next season

Still only 23 so he should be able to improve considerably

A realistic option for sure

Looks like Origi is off to AC Milan and Adam Hložek is going to Bayer Leverkusen. 2 players we could have signed.

Re: What Striker Would You Like To See Us Buy?
Id love us to sign Lukaku obviously wont ever happen but thread tiltle is who would you 'like' to sign. More seriously we should be in a position now to plunder the best players from the teams just below us and not in Europe, so the likes of Watkins or Tony.
